About – Root Freedom

Grounded in nature. Guided by freedom.

Root Freedom didn’t start with a business plan. It started with a question.

What if we didn’t have to reach for a pill every time something hurt, every time stress got overwhelming, every time sleep wouldn’t come?

We’re Chad and Millie — a couple from Texas on a genuine journey to learn the natural ways to keep ourselves healthy and thriving. Millie grew up with a Puerto Rican heritage rich in plant medicine, home remedies, and the deep-rooted belief that nature provides what the body needs. Those traditions — passed down through generations — were always there in the background. We just needed to start paying attention to them.

So we did.

We started learning everything we could about herbal remedies, medicinal plants, DIY preparations, and the kinds of natural wellness practices that have worked for centuries before modern medicine told us to forget about them. The more we learned, the more we wanted to share it.

That’s Root Freedom.

What You’ll Find Here

Root Freedom is a natural wellness blog built for people who are curious about herbs and plants but don’t know where to start. We cover:

Herbal remedies — evidence-informed guides to the herbs that actually work for sleep, stress, pain, immunity, hormonal health, skin, digestion, and more.

DIY herbal recipes — tinctures, salves, teas, syrups, infused oils, and more. Simple enough to make at home, powerful enough to make a difference.

Herb gardening — how to grow your own medicinal herbs from seed, from a small container on your porch to a full medicinal garden.

Women’s wellness — natural support for hormonal health, PMS, PCOS, menopause, and the full spectrum of women’s health concerns that conventional medicine often dismisses.

We’re not doctors. We’re not herbalists with letters after our names. We’re two people from Texas who got tired of feeling like outsiders in their own health and decided to do something about it. Everything we share here is rooted in research, traditional wisdom, and our own honest experience.

Why Natural Wellness

There’s something that happens when you make your first batch of elderberry syrup, or brew a cup of chamomile from flowers you grew yourself, or find that peppermint oil actually works better for your tension headache than the ibuprofen you’ve been reaching for for years.

You realize that taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be complicated, expensive, or dependent on a pharmacy.

That realization is what Root Freedom is built on.

We believe that natural wellness should be accessible to everyone — not just people with expensive supplement budgets or access to specialty stores. Most of what works has been growing in gardens and fields for thousands of years. Our job is just to help you find it and use it.

A Note on Our Content

Everything on Root Freedom is written with care and backed by research. We link to the products and sources we actually use and trust. Some of those links are affiliate links — meaning we earn a small commission if you purchase through them at no extra cost to you. That’s how we keep the lights on and the content free.

We’re always honest about what works and what doesn’t. We’ll never recommend something we wouldn’t use ourselves.
